Positively Parenting
Therapeutic support group for parents and caregivers
Positively Parenting is a group for parents and caregivers that enable them to work through the difficulties that prevent them from being the parents they want to be.
Children are our most valuable resource; they will create the future that we will live in. How will that look like? One thing that we cannot get back is our childhood; however what we can do is give our children the best childhood we are able to. Positively Parenting builds on our natural abilities of love, nurturing and wisdom. We know what children need because once we were like them and had these same needs also.
In this group we will support each other as we explore what get’s in the way of us being the parent that we want to be; how to deal with difficult situations in a practical manner and yet still have humor and compassion for ourselves.
Positively Parenting runs for 8 weeks during term time.
Term 1 start date: Monday 8th February 2010 (9.30-11.30am)
Term 2 start date: Not running

Entry Criteria for Positively Parenting
Parents or caregivers with children can enrol in the Positively Parenting programme as can parents and caregivers of children registered as Parentline clients. Whilst children are undergoing counselling and therapy with Parentline, the Positively Parenting programme might be a strategy that parents and caregivers can undertake to strengthen the family unit.

All Parentline facilitators are qualified social workers or counsellors who are members of ANZASW or NZAC. All facilitators are experienced in group work and one on one work with children and families.
Each group has two facilitators; one lead and one to support. Parentline operates a rotational group facilitation process to enable all facilitators to have in dept experience in each group programme.
